Kindergarten: You and Me Program on Building Social Skills

Dear Family:

In Kindergarten I will be presenting a program entitled You and Me: Building Social Skills in Young Children. The program guides young children in learning valuable social skills, such as taking turns, helping others, and joining in. The topics and storybook titles are as follows:

At the start of each new unit you will receive a family letter. The family letter is designed to help families understand and become actively involved in their children's social development. Because parents or other home caregivers are children's first and most important teachers, they play a vital role in enhancing social skill development.

Each family letter provides the following:

The family letter creates a partnership between home and school, helping teachers and families work together. Please review each family letter when it is sent home. This will provide consistency between home and school. We will be starting these classroom lessons within the first 2 months of the beginning of the school year.
